Summary and Main Purpose:
As Head of Curriculum and Creative Learning, you will provide the leadership and vision to design and develop curriculum that is sector leading and embraces the use of innovative learning technologies. You will be responsible for leading a team of curriculum developers and creative designers, to design and develop a curriculum that enables learners to thrive on their programme, achieve excellent EPA outcomes, and add real value to their workplace.
You will also be responsible for ensuring that the curriculum is designed in a way that excites and energises learners through a varied and rich curriculum, which is supported through the dynamic use of technology, and for ensuring the curriculum is constructed based on sound pedagogical principles that enable learners to master the knowledge and skills on their apprenticeship. You will be responsible for the project management and quality assurance of the curriculum team to ensure high-performance, high-quality learning content and the achievement of product development targets.
The successful candidate will have an unwavering drive for achieving excellence in curriculum innovation and will have an excellent understanding of pedagogy and the use of learning technologies and learning management systems. They will have strong leadership and management skills, with demonstrable impact in a similar role. They will have strong commercial acumen to support new business initiatives, tender and proposal writing and project management skills in order to design high quality products that meet client and business needs.
Key Accountabilities:
- Managing the Curriculum and Creative Learning Technologies Team to design and create a curriculum and resources that excite and energise learners, are varied, rich and interactive, effectively use learning technology, and successfully enable learners to master the knowledge and skills needed for their apprenticeship and to add value to the workplace.
- Project Management of the Curriculum and Creative team, to ensure the team successfully delivers to the product development plan and achieves SLAs and KPIs
- Analysing key performance data and feedback from stakeholders to review programme effectiveness and planning and implementing remedial action where required.
- Reporting on curriculum progress and curriculum programme performance to a range of stakeholders.
- Quality assuring the curriculum, to ensure high performance, high-quality learning content and the achievement of product development targets.
- Managing the programme approval process and product council, ensuring all new provision is appropriately set up and will provide a high-quality learning experience.
- Managing and reporting on the programme sign-off process to enable key stakeholders to review and shape the curriculum design to ensure that it is fit-for-purpose.
- Managing curriculum implementation and roll out, to ensure Development Coaches/Trainers are confident in delivering the curriculum and that delivery is standardised.
- Training, developing and upskilling the Curriculum and Creative team to ensure an innovative and high-quality curriculum.
- Liaising with the senior team, providing quality service and support to all business areas as required of the curriculum and creative learning team
- Scoping, designing and Implementing Improvement projects to improve the learner and employer experience and shape future business strategy for the Curriculum.
- Contributing to the development of Remit’s Curriculum Strategy and leading on its implementation.
- Effectively working with colleagues across the business at all levels, to ensure that there is a shared understanding of curriculum intent, implementation and impact.
- Supporting new business initiatives, tender and proposal writing and project management skills in order to deliver high quality commercial products on time and to client specifications.
- Act as a customer liaison, educating the employer in the workings and expectations of apprenticeship standards and offering a consultative approach to other learning solutions.
- Maintaining a current understanding of the current trends and developments within education, including changes to the apprenticeship standards, use of technology and learning, and using this to cascade updates across the business and shape the design of curriculum to ensure that it remains current.
- Act as an ambassador for company culture and creation of positive working relationships.
- Any other duties as directed by the Director Quality and Curriculum considered appropriate for this post.
Key Knowledge and Experience:
- Excellent knowledge of curriculum design, use of learning technologies and learning management systems
- Experience of designing and overseeing the development of curriculum at a senior level
- Experience of Project and programme management
- Experience of leading a high performing team in a senior role
- Experience of leading change and process development
- Experience of creating and implementing strategy, processes and business plans
- Experienced in developing stakeholder relationships, including presenting to senior stakeholders
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience)
- Highly skilled user of Microsoft Office applications and a range of learning technologies including Learner Management Systems
Skills and Behaviours:
- Excellent understanding of education and training and use of learning technology
- Strong communication and presentation skills, oral and written
Ability to coach, lead and develop others
Time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
- Working knowledge and implementation experience of the relevant compliance and business protocols
- Full valid driving licence with access to a car
- The ability to think creatively, use initiative and identify opportunities
- Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail, and able to work with minimum supervision
