Summary and Main Purpose:
Assessu are delighted to be recruiting for a Business Development Manager to enhance the portfolio of clients
using our End Point Assessment (EPA).
Assessu is part of the Remit Group, who has a history of respected quality training and development delivery
across a wide range of work-based industries and sectors. Assessu is a Ofqual regulated EPAO and registered
with the ESFA on the government’s Apprenticeship Providers and Assessment Register’ (APAR). The business is
independently operated by an experienced board of directors and managers from across the education and
training sector, offering a unique balance of industry insight, knowledge, and expertise to provide every
employer and their apprentices with a fair and quality assured End Point assessment experience.
We are looking for a highly driven, successful Business Development Manager, with a track record in sales, EPA
and Apprenticeships, with the skill, ambition, and relentless appetite for success, not only for themselves, but
for Remit and our clients and learners. To be successful, you will have to confidently gain access to the key
decision makers and influencers in levy paying organisations, Independent Training Providers and FE Colleges,
also being aware of and promoting our other products and services.
Main Purpose of the Role:
- Identify and engage with Levy paying employers, Independent Training Providers and FE Colleges to generate EPA volumes inline with budgets and growth plans
- Proactively pursue leads and new opportunities with new target clients, developing strong propositions, exceptional relationships at all levels and communicating our growing service offering across all EPA standards
- Generate own leads via field sales, cold calling, networking, and presentations to secure new clients
- Manage and maximise relationships to secure new/repeat business

Key Accountabilities:
- To grow revenue and identify strategies for future growth opportunities
- To identify, manage and win key opportunities primarily with large levy clients, Providers and FE Colleges
- A collaborative or supportive approach to bid management working with the Managing Director, Assessu
- To manage financial aspects of each opportunity, including developing the opportunity budgets
- To lead on proposal writing and presentation production and delivery for each opportunity
- Maintain a high and frequent level of contact with key targets at all levels throughout customer organisations
- Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of target customers, businesses, products, challenges, and Assessu’s competitors
- Maintain sales plans and pipeline relevant to each opportunity
- Promotion of the Assessu within target accounts organisations
- Identification of opportunities to improve and develop business further
- Understand Assessu and client culture and values and work in line with these always.
- Promote a learning culture for the client through workforce planning, talent management, succession planning and leadership development.
- Remain abreast with developments in End Point Assessment and Apprenticeship funding arena in order to best advise clients and develop solutions
- Use innovation as a tool to achieve growth and encourage its development in others
- Plan and prioritise personal sales activities towards achieving agreed business aims
- Complete all necessary reporting to keep line management and the wider business informed and progress towards achieving agreed targets
- To carry out other duties as and when necessary to meet the varying demands of the business and satisfy customer needs
Key Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Educated to GCSE level grade C or above including Maths & English (or equivalent)
- Computer Skills (ECDL or equivalent in Company training)
- Educated to degree standard or with equivalent experience with excellent written and spoken communication skills with the ability to present at a senior level; fully computer literate and numerate
Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Business Development role; working to, achieving and exceeding targets
- A minimum of 1 years’ experience of Business Development in a similar role within the apprenticeship and/or EPA sector
- A proven track record in delivering results through building trust and relationships with other companies
- Experience of undertaking travel, meeting existing and prospective clients, and attending networking events
- Experience of presenting ideas, in a consultative manner at the highest executive level
- Experience in development and implementation of strategic solutions
- Demonstrable experience of developing deep insight into prospective customers’ strategic growth plans – relating finding to our own product and service offering
Skills and Knowledge:
- Excellent negotiation, influencing & presentation skills
- Proven experience of developing relationships, influencing, and negotiating with employers to secure new business.
- Knowledge of Government Funded training
- Excellent communication, presentation, written and verbal skills
- Strong analytical and IT skills
- Time Management skills with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Must be able to work with the minimum of supervision
- Proven track record to influence people
- Ability to travel to locations throughout the UK as required
- Full valid driving licence
- Overnight stays as required
- Positive and proactive approach to stakeholders
- Dynamic and able to drive results through others
- Ability to forward plan future changes and anticipate the impact to the business
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Encourages and supports others to give their best; understands how different people are motivated and acts accordingly
