Summary and Main Purpose
The role of the Qualification & Assessment Development Manager is to manage the end-to-end process of design and delivery of end point assessments, to ensure complaint awarding of Assessu’s qualifications.
You will liaise regularly with internal and external subject and assessment experts to ensure Assessu has a portfolio of high-quality assessment tools that are reliable and valid across a range of EPAs, and that assessment outcomes are comparable and consistent for all Learners.
This role requires someone who has good project management skills within further education and technical knowledge and understanding of the complexities of assessment design and theory. Experience working for an awarding organisation or end point assessment organisation designing and developing assessment materials is essential.
You must be flexible to adapt to changing guidelines, regulations and requirements, have good communication skills and a good standard of written English. You should be confident in your IT skills and use of e-assessment systems and be able to work to deadlines.
Top 4 Major Tasks and Activities:
- To own development of the overarching proposition for End Point Assessments, ensuring this is continuously reviewed and improved and meets internal and external governance requirements
- Development of Assessu tools and instruments, maintenance of the assessment portfolio, grading criteria and processes
- Development of Assessu support and guidance (pre and post gateway)
- Ensure Assessu meets Ofqual regulatory and assessment plan requirements during build and annual reviews
Other Key Accountabilities:
- Management of, and ultimate sign off of the design and development of high-quality end point assessment materials and tools
- Manage the Qualifications Development Officer and associate assessment developers to produce high quality and inclusive assessment materials within agreed time frames to meet agreed deadlines
- Be responsive to internal and external reviewer feedback, evaluations and recommendations.
- Liaise with internal and external subject and assessment experts.
- Confidently analyse and interpret data to inform the reliability and consistency of assessment tools.
- Produce comprehensive guidance documents and exemplar learning materials for all users and stakeholders
- Maintain a good working knowledge of apprenticeship standards and assessment plans, and Ofqual’s conditions of recognition
- Be responsible for maintaining your own on-going CPD relevant to education and assessment practice and the regulatory requirements and conditions to ensure Assessu remains compliant
- Monitor any actual or perceived conflicts of interest, including in relation to the independence of assessment design and development
- Uphold and promote organisational policies and procedures, promoting those specifically applicable to this area of work including the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policy
- Any other duties reasonably requested by the Managing Director of Assessu.

Assessu is subject to regulatory requirements, one of which lays out the responsibilities of the organisation in relation to identifying and managing Conflicts of Interest.
