Head of Marketing, PR & Communications

We have a new and exciting hybrid job-share opportunity! This opportunity will initially be a part-time role 1-2 days per week with the possibility to increase the number of working days after 3 months.

Summary and Main Purpose:

To play a pivotal role in the development of marketing plans and campaigns directly linked to the sales function of the business to increase customer and learner engagement in line with the company’s sales targets and growth plans.

To develop and implement an annual marketing strategy and monthly plans to support business objectives, including the full range of marketing channels. Planning, reporting and monitoring of this activity against key metrics will be a key element of this role in ensuring any activity undertaken is measureable against clear ROI.

Support the Marketing Director with the development of the company brand, on and off-line marketing materials and content is another important function in the marketing manager’s role, ensuring all materials are on-brand and on message for the various employer and learner audiences.

Research into core markets, innovations in marketing and technology marketing tools will also be required within this role to ensure the department and business are efficient and innovators in their field. This will also support the company in identifying new opportunities.

The marketing manager will lead a full-service in-house team to include regular 1-2-1s, annual objectives and identifying training requirements in line with professional development.

Key Accountabilities:

Planning:

  • Work in partnership with the Marketing and Sales Directors to develop an annual marketing plan in-line with sales plans
  • Manage company recruitment channels and tools increase inbound enquiries and lead generation in line with company targets
  • Increase applicant conversions for current or future apprenticeship vacancies in line with sales plan targets
  • Support the in-house and field-based sales and recruitment teams with product information, materials, and direct response campaigns
  • Provide timeline, planning and review to outline achievements
  • Manage the in-house marketing team in delivering all plans
  • Work cross departmentally to support all company divisions in achieving their objectives
  • Support with successful client delivery where required

Digital:

  • Oversee and mentor Digital Marketing Executive with implantation of all company social media and digital activity to achieve sales plans

Content:

  • Oversee as well as develop written and digital content for all necessary areas within the company
  • Create a suite of on and off-line marketing collateral to support all functions
  • Create clear communication messages for use across the company
  • Work with individual departments to create with sales tools dedicated messaging
  • Ensure content is up to date and correct
  • Source testimonials and case studies
  • Utilise quality images throughout all marketing mediums.
  • Oversee the production of videos for the company website and communication plan

Events:

  • Identify, and oversee events to raise brand awareness and build a pipeline of applications
  • Organise key event campaign delivery such as National Apprenticeships Week and thought leadership activity

Communication and Email:

  • Oversee the creation of a monthly e-communications plan with clear e-marketing campaigns and messaging as well as supporting ad-hoc and one off campaigns as necessary.
  • Ensure E-marketing campaigns are produced, signed off and sent out timely in line with plans maximising responses
  • Manage the marketing team in delivering against this plan with regular reports and evaluation
  • Review and evaluate e-comms to improve open rate and conversions

Other:

  • Maintain relationships with external companies and suppliers.
  • Assist in making and responding to calls and emails from stakeholders
  • Assistance with any other marketing and PR activities as necessary.
  • Support in exploration of collaborations with external agencies in achieving Remit’s objectives
  • Assist in company activity through open day, recruitment days and other event specific activity.
  • To support and deputise for other members of the team when required
  • Manage and take responsibility for the day to day running of the office with other managers

Key Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Educated to GCSE level grade C or above including Maths & English (or equivalent) 
  • Computer Skills (ECDL or equivalent in Company training) 
  • Marketing qualifications/experience, either in house or agency 
  • Relevant sector experience, and/or current updated CPD 
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office applications 
  • CRM system experience 

Experience:

  • Strong copy writing skills and content production for multiple channels 
  • Experience of managing attendance at events 
  • Experience of developing and maintaining social media channels for a business 
  • Experience of website development and CMS 
  • Knowledge of SEO and PPC activity 
  • Competent use of digital and social media channels and a strong familiarity with website navigation and user journey 
  • Experience of managing a team 
  • Experience of email communications and email platforms 
  • Ability to plan and deliver a communications campaigns under minimum supervision 
  • Experience of building successful stakeholder relationships 
  • Experience of generating company PR both regionally and nationally including writing case studies and testimonials 
  • The ability to use initiative and identify opportunities 
  • Desire to work in a fast paced marketing environment 
  • Have strong organisational skills with strong attention to detail 

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Government Funded training and core sectors 
  • Good communication and presentation skills, oral and written 
  • Good general IT awareness 
  • Have an interest in technology and communications technology 
  • Time Management skills with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines 
  • Own car and full valid driving licence 
