Location: Derby Academy
Summary and Main Purpose:
To support a team of Technical Trainers within our Automotive Academy to inspire and support learners through effective and engaging block training. Responsible for managing team performance against all key metrics, including quality, compliance and block reports.
Key Accountabilities:
- Manage team of Technical Trainers including conducting regular 1:1s, team meetings, peer observations, Tutor wellbeing and any other support required including absence and performance management etc.
- Effective review & monitoring of management information to identify strengths and areas of underperformance to agree actions for improvement
- Maintain classroom delivery and teaching time to ensure your own CPD and teaching practices remain to a high quality and standard
- Responsible for driving exceptional learner results and achievement including where applicable Merits and Distinctions
- To motivate and drive Tutor performance to meet agreed KPIs, tracking EP & Tutor achievements & Progression
- Keep up to date with new teaching practices and promote and share best practice through standardisation, CPD and Team Meetings
- Inspire and drive high standards of learner experience, maintaining learner behaviours & wellbeing
- Ensure that the team operate in compliance with company processes to meet the requirements of external stakeholders (awarding organisations/OFSTED/funding bodies)
- Effectively communicate and work closely with key stakeholders to evaluate, modify and develop solutions to ensure high satisfaction and success rates
- Feedback and support the Curriculum team and other internal stakeholder’s and continually improve to further develop practical training resources for block training delivery
- Share responsibility and contribute to the security, general upkeep and housekeeping of all Remit training facilities
- Support the Technical Trainers to ensure classroom occupancy is maximised and that classroom behaviours create a positive learning environment
- Understand and work within Remit and client culture and values
- Report any accidents/incidents according to Remit procedures
- Maintain confidentiality as appropriate in respect of the learner and colleagues
- Manage own time effectively
- Undertake any other ad-hoc duties as determined by the needs of the business
- Implement the Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity policies at all times
- Research the automotive motor industry on a regular basis to keep abreast of market technologies, developments and trends, particularly areas of the specialism for which you are responsible
- Identify opportunities for commercial delivery

Qualifications:
- Relevant vocational qualification.
- Maths and English at equivalent functional skills level 2 or above
- Health and safety qualifications
- D32/D33/D34, ‘A’ and ‘V’ awards
- AET (Level 3) or an equivalent Teaching/Training qualification
- CET (Level 4) or equivalent (Cert Ed)
Experience:
- Recent relevant industrial experience, minimum of five years in motor vehicle academic or vocational field.
- Ability to motivate, inspire and develop people
- Ability to work towards given deadlines and targets
- Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload
- Experience of leading a team
Skills and Knowledge:
- Administrative skills
- Knowledge of motor vehicle qualification system
- Possess health and safety knowledge and risk assessment
- Full valid driving licence
- Good interpersonal skills
- Effective time management and able to work to deadlines
- Possess effective written, oral and IT skills
- Able to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to work flexibly
