Summary and Main Purpose:

To drive quality performance and improvements to ensure colleagues adhere to the highest possible standards of quality and compliance are maintained and sustaining outstanding performance. The Quality Assurance Manager will lead on key Quality Processes from the Quality Strategy and Assessment Strategy, and analyse and report on Performance against KPIs, and using this to drive improvement activity. The role also includes managing the Quality Assurance Leads and Team Leader and act as Quality Nominee for Awarding organisations.

Key Accountabilities:

  • To contribute to the design and implementation of the 3-year Quality Improvement Strategy, self-assessment and improvement planning processes and preparation for inspections/reviews.
  • To lead the review and development of Quality policies, procedures and codes of practice and develop/maintain associated supporting documentation.
  • To lead on the key processes within the Quality Strategy including the Sector Review, Performance Review, Observations, Programme Intervention and SAR and improvement planning processes and instil a culture of continuous improvement.
  • To lead the annual review, development and implementation of assessment policies, procedures and codes of practice and to develop/maintain the associated supporting documentation.
  • To manage, lead and quality assure the activity of the Quality Assurance Leads to ensure that standards are consistently maintained across remit and effective team performance in line with priorities and targets. To act as Quality Nominee (central point of contact) for AOs and managing associated invoices.
  • To lead the implementation of the Assessment, IQA and Malpractice policies, working with relevant AO and regulatory bodies where required, facilitating appeals or investigations, and undertaking sampling to ensure compliance.
  • Developing with the Quality Assurance Leads, the quality assurance mechanisms that underpin the Quality and IQA Policy to ensure rigour in the quality assurance process, and to drive standards in assessment, feedback and verification practice.
  • To monitor quality assurance outcomes and performance data, providing support and challenge to Quality Assurance Leads, Curriculum and Operations to secure improvements.
  • To analyse and report on performance, to keep key stakeholders informed about any developments, trends or problems relating to compliance and quality issues and use this to inform improvement activity.
  • To manage teaching, learning and assessment systems to record, analyse and evaluate the quality of education, and working with the Quality Assurance Leads and Teaching and Development Manager to drive improvement activity.
  • To drive QAR with RMs and Business Unit Directors (BUDs), ensuring learners achieve in a timely manner, meeting organisational targets to pass first time and achieve high grades.
  • To support/advise Regional Managers (RMs) in the selection of new Development Coaches (DCs), contribute to DC induction and Teacher Training and oversee the delivery of any Assessment QA qualifications.
  • To train, coach and support managers so that they continuously improve achievement, providing support and intervention to resolve issues when identified.
  • To keep abreast of industry and awarding organisation changes and ensure the information is disseminated to the appropriate personnel and implemented accordingly.
  • Any other duties reasonably requested by the Director of Quality and Curriculum

Key Requirements

Qualifications: 

  • Educated to GCSE level grade C or above including Maths & English (or equivalent)
  • Computer Skills (ECDL or equivalent in Company training)
  • Relevant occupational qualification
  • A1 / V1 Awards, D32/D33/D34/A1/V1/TAQA Awards
  • Teaching qualification

Experience:

  • Recent experience of delivering training and support
  • Recent experience of managing a remote team within the WBL sector
  • Recent experience of assessment processes and evidence capture
  • Recent experience of Verification and Sampling
  • Relevant occupational sector experience, and/or current CPD
  • Experienced and competent user of Microsoft Office applications

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Government Funded training 
  • Good communication and presentation skills, oral and written
  • Ability to plan and prioritise and work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Ability to Identify, interpret and apply knowledge and information
  • Ability to analyse situations and recommend ways forward
  • Must be able to work with the minimum of supervision
  • An ability to build positive relationships and motivate individuals
  • Proven track record to influence people 
  • Ability to handle conflict positively
  • Ability to travel to locations throughout the UK as required
  • Full valid driving licence
