Location: Nottingham (opportunity to work from home)

Summary and Main Purpose:

To provide support to the CFO in managing the business through a period of change and developing the future growth strategy. Taking day to day responsibility for the Finance team and control over the periodic financial reporting for the Remit Group of Companies.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Prepare periodic financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, cash flows, variance analysis and commentaries on a timely basis.
  • Lead and manage the Finance team to deliver the monthly management accounts and wider financial support to the group. Full consolidated accounts P&L, Balance Sheet and cashflow by working day 8.
  • Ensure accurate VAT returns are submitted.
  • Responsible for Payroll and PAYE.
  • Responsible for Supplier payments.
  • Corporation Tax provision and payment.
  • All company secretarial requirements for Remit Group of companies.
  • All control accounts reconciled every month.
  • Analysing variances and exploring potential problems with line managers.
  • Offering professional judgement on financial matters and advising on ways of improving business performance.
  • Lead the relationship with the external auditors to ensure a smooth process and successful outcome.
  • Liaise with other function managers to put the finance view in context.
  • Monitoring & reviewing corporate governance procedures, risk management and internal controls.
  • Improving the systems surrounding all aspects of the Company’s budgets, forecasts, business planning and controls.
  • Promote a positive image of the Company and all of the services it delivers.
  • Actively contribute to maintenance of a professional and welcoming environment.
  • Any other duties reasonably requested by the CFO.


  • Educated to GCSE level grade C or above including Maths & English (or equivalent)
  • Computer Skills (ECDL or equivalent in Company training)
  • Relevant occupational qualification and a minimum of 5 years PQE:

• ACA (Chartered Accountant)

• ACCA (Certified Chartered Accountant)


  • Relevant occupational sector experience, and/or current updated CPD
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office applications
  • First hand experience of planning, budgeting and forecasting
  • Experience of leading a team of staff responsible for the production of management accounts
  • Skill and Knowledge:
  • Good communication and presentation skills, oral and written
  • Good general IT awareness
  • Time Management skills with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Must be able to work with the minimum of supervision
  • Experience of writing reports
  • Full valid driving licence
  • Overnight stays as required
